do i install facial boards at the top,or bottom of rafters coming down, ive put them at the top already,it seems to have two different angles, plywood ends where ??ive ruined 3 sheets already, what do i do???How do i place facial boards on my shed??
I usually place a temporary scrap board on top of the rafters, extending beyond the edge of the rafters to simulate the roof sheathing. Then measure down from the roof deck, the distance of your fascia material, minus the thickness of the soffit material and any reveal below the soffit. This is where you would mark the rafter tails to be cut horizontally. Now apply the fascia up tight to the roof decking or the temporary scraps. How do i place facial boards on my shed??
My suggestion is to get someone physically on site to suggest a solution. The question you have asked can get very technical and is difficult to explain without knowing a whole lot more about what you have already done. Too many variables.
I will guess the problem has to do with the rafters not being bobbed off evenly and plumb with the ground... assuming you do have a pitched roof. Even so. the ends of the rafters are prolly not even due to each rafter having a different degree of crown in them. If you notched the rafters to sit on the top plate, not notching them all the same will cause the ends to be uneven as well. If you have a pitched roof, and you want the decking to sit flat on the fascia boards, you will have to bevel rip one side of the fascia boards. The degree of bevel is determined by the pitch on the roof. Some people will install the decking so that it will overhang the fascia. You can then just butt the fascia to the decking and not worry about the bevel rip.
I really don't know what you mean by installing the fascia at the top or bottom of the rafters.More info is needed. Good luck... maybe this will help some.
