Facial hair policy in the work place?

my company's handbook says it allows for beards only if you have a medical reason with a doctors note. what on earth could be a medical reason for having a beard????Facial hair policy in the work place?
Severe scaring or sensitive skin, hormonal treatments, could be any of those 3 reasons, there may be others.





Personally I think it is a violation of civil rights if an employer does not allow you to have facial hair, but some OSHA regulations may require it.





To all those that read this, be aware if you have facial hair and would like to keep it, check your job description, and the OSHA regualtions pertaining to that job description, if OSHA does not have any requirements reguarding facial hair, and you want to keep your facial hair, and the employer does not permit it, your next stop is your local civil liberties office! Make a case, stand your ground, don't let corprate america or the corprate world take away all your freedoms.Facial hair policy in the work place?
A clean shaved face looks cleaner, it may not be cleaner but looks it and that may be why that is the policy. Do you work at Disney World as they have that policy also. Report Abuse

Probably to cover up a scar or birthmark, hormone disorders? - that rule seems a little ott to me!
That is the first I have ever heard that. The only reason I could think of is maybe scars.
My Great grandfather didn't grow a beard until after he had a stroke. But at least by then he had long since retired.

cause u need to be clean cut at work and some ppl let their beards get out of hand and it doesn't look good for the business
Psychological. I have a b-n-l whose face is covered in scars, he hasn't shaved since the accident that scarred him
If you have acne there and you have sensitive skin that when you shave it will get infected
my hair is always dundruf and also hair falling . and so weak.
