What determines a '; minority '; ? Nationality,skin color,language,place of origin,diversity,facial features?

I am Finnish.There are only about 5-6 million Finns on this earth.Does that make me a ';minority'; ? (compared to most countries,nationalities,groups,geno types) The language is related only to Estonia and they are Finns anyway.Am I a ';minority'; ?What determines a '; minority '; ? Nationality,skin color,language,place of origin,diversity,facial features?
minority is determined by how many people of your, racial, religious or ethnic group live in a particular community. so if you live in Finland you are not a minority if you live in Ethiopia you are. in America where race USUALLY takes more important than ethnicity or religion you are not a minority. minority is not based upon the total population of the planet.What determines a '; minority '; ? your nationality in this case is a minority. If you were 8 feet tall you would be a minority. If you were a male you would be in the majority (i think). Just depends on the criteria you are talking about. In the U.S. you would be a minority, but in Finland you would be the majority.
In the strictest sense of the word and if you are measuring the planet's various national populations. Yes, you are a minority.





There are 6 billion people on the earth. So in order to be in the majority, a nation would have to claim 3,000,000,001 people as its citizens.





It effectively means there is no national majority on earth at this time.
a minority is usually everything that isn't the majority. it depends how you look at it. finns are not a majority compared other ethnic/cultural groups. you may be in the majority if you look at it by color of skin. you may not be. don't have the stats on that one. but what determines a minority is how you look at it through numbers and how you are categorizing it (ie all the things you listed lang, skin color).
';Minority'; is to some extent a relative term. With 5-6 million people the Finns are certainly a minority both worldwide and even in Europe. However, I imagine when a person in Finland proper speaks about minorities they are probably referring to Gypsies, Lapps (Saami), maybe Swedes and Russian Jews.
